Because of our crazy schedules, in January, the Finch Cousins got together at Abbies for a late Christmas dinner. It was so nice to have Emily and Chad in town! AND, It was the first time I met Andrea and her husband, Dario, after hearing sooo much about them!
We were invited by the Alve's Family to attend a Geogetown Women's Basketball Game. Brian and Coley were helping out through "Hoya Kids". We had a great time!

RENEE'S 18TH BIRTHDAY

The weekend after her birthday, we surprised Renee with a celebration dinner - all her friends and family were there.

...before Memere left, we went to church on Sunday and had a family breakfast...love having Adam and Maggie in VA with us...we are going to miss them when they leave :(
Renee was chosen as the Boys and Girls Club of Dumfries "Youth of the Year." In September 2013, Renee and the members of National Honor Society at Potomac High School organized a 5k Color Run and raised over $1000.00 for the Boys and Girls Club. With the Youth of the Year title, there was also an opportunity to win scholarship money and move on to the next level. Renee had to prepare a very in depth scholarship resume/package and had to prepare a speech for a luncheon in Washington DC. She competed against seven other candidates in the DC Metro Area and did a fantastic job!! Speaking in front of 70 people is NOT an easy task at ANY age! She did not move on to the Regional level, but did a hell of a job!! So proud of her, it will be an experience she will never forget!
She kept saying "I just want to do my speech first to get it over with"...well, guess what, she drew "1" ...she went first ;) It sounded much better in theory!
